After a space shuttle launch is aborted and evidence of some bizarre sabotage is found, a NASA worker asks Mulder and Scully to take a look around. Meanwhile, the former astronaut who is in charge of the mission is apparently haunted by something he encountered during a spacewalk on a previous mission.
Poor Space, I think its universally disliked by The X-Files fandom – really I challenge anyone to come forward and tell me if and why they like it. Its just so … dull. I feel like the face/alien/scary thing is maybe a good concept if they had worked on it a little more.
Also perhaps why the story is so underwhelming due to the fact this was supposed to be an episode that reigned the budget in after all the over spending in previous episodes. However, as we all know, because of the fancy mission control centre, Space blew its budget and every other budget apparently, as it became the most expensive episode of the season. Kind of sad really, considering how bad it is.
The highlight of the episode really has to be Mulder’s fanboying. We all know how he feels, most of us just don’t get giddy around grumpy astronauts. But we’ll forgive him.
Memorable Moments: (none)
SCULLY: Evidence of what?
MULDER: Alien civilizations.
SCULLY: Oh, of course.
Its really the banter that adds any kind of quality to this episode.
SCULLY: Didn’t you want to get his autograph?
Maybe a selfie too?
SCULLY: What do you think?
MULDER: I can’t believe how much faith we put in machines.
Oh Mulder, thats funny. What must you think of 2015?
MULDER: I have to admit, that fulfilled one of my boyhood fantasies.
SCULLY: Yeah, it ranks right up there with getting a pony and learning how to braid my own hair.
And Scully was interested in neither of those things.
I just like this picture.
Hey, isnt that?: Susanna Thompson plays Michelle Generoo
May or may not have been aliens/bigfoot sightings: Mulder: 1 | Scully: 1 (but I’m sure it was just a trick of the light)
